The Shaker Spring Ice Spectacular is hosted and directed annually here at Thornton by the City of Shaker. The ice show is fully produced, draws large crowds, and is truly spectacular – a season highlight for many! SFSC members are able to perform in various group numbers, and many are featured in specialty numbers and solos throughout the show. The show is a truly unique and fun event!

The Show
The Shaker Spring Ice Spectacular is a thrilling annual ice show occurring in May of each year. It is hosted and produced by the Shaker Recreation Department with 3 performances the weekend of the show: Friday Evening, Saturday Matinee, and Saturday Evening. The show is composed of group performances, solos, and specialty numbers. The Spring Ice Spectacular is a long standing tradition in the Shaker Heights community.
Rehearsals & Tryouts
Participants attend weekend rehearsals beginning in March to learn group choreography, a technical rehearsal (typically the Sunday before the week of the show), a dress rehearsal (the Thursday afternoon before the show), and three performances (Friday evening, Saturday matinee, and Saturday evening). A formal schedule is published in January. Tryouts for solos and features occurs in December.
Registration
Members of the Shaker Figure Skating Club and members of Shaker’s Learn to Skate programs are welcome to participate. Registration will be available online through the Shaker Recreation Department as the event grows near.
