US Icewear has again given the Shaker Figure Skating Club a great opportunity–to buy something you need AND raise funds to offset ice costs at the same time—by purchasing skating tights!! All profits go directly to the Club.

The 2010 Spring Ice Contract is now available in the “Forms” tab of this site. The contract will run from March 8, 2010 through June 5, 2010 and is due to the Ice Administrator by February 22, 2010.

Practice Ice
One hour of practice ice will be available each day prior to the start of the competition–10:00 am-11:00 am on Saturday and 8:00 am-9:00 am on Sunday. You may purchase the ice at the door. The cost is $10.
Photography/Video
Motophoto will be on site to take action photos and will be selling them at the event. We do not have a videographer. You are welcome to videotape the event so long as you are not obstructing the view of the officials, Motophoto or other guests.
Food/Refreshments
Thornton Park is thrilled to announce that 32 Degrees Cafe will be in operation during the entire event. They will be offering hot breakfast, fruit, yogurt, hot entries, soup (in addition to the regular concession foods).
Vendors
The Bag Lady will have a table our event. We also will have a medal engraver on site.
Location
This event will be held at Thornton Park Ice Arena - 3301 Warrensville Center Road, Shaker Heights OH. There is ample parking available. The event is free – ask friends and family to attend and cheer on your team!

Try outs will be held next Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm for those skaters interested in a solo/feature in the show who have not passed the Juvenile Free skate test. Skaters must sign up prior to the tryouts. A sign up sheet is on Erin’s window at the rink, please contact Erin Schopf with any questions.

There are several competitions coming up in the area. The Kent Skating for Skills will be March 6-7, 2010 and is hosted by the Kent Skating Club in Kent. The deadline for entry is January 25, 2010. The Cleveland Invitational Championship will be March 19-21, 2010 and will be hosted by Center Ice Skating Club in North Canton. The deadline for entry is January 29, 2010 Extended until February 5, 2010. The Strongsville Skating Club will be hosting their Spring Fling April 17-18, 2010 at the Hoover Arena in Strongsville. The deadline for entry is March 5, 2010. And finally, the Tri-State Memorial Free Skating Championship will be held April 23-25, 2010 at the Pavilion Skating Club in Cleveland Heights. The deadline for entry is March 15, 2010. The applications for each event are attached below.

The Nominating Committee is seeking interested members to run for Board officer and trustee positions. The election will be held in May and the officer and Board terms are for July 2010 through June 2012. More information, including a description of the duties and responsibilities of each position, and a sign-up sheet are posted on the club’s bulletin board at the rink. Please contact one of the members of the nominating committee if you have any questions. The committee is: Lois Rosenblum, Beth Riebe, Jodie Herbst, Mimi Karon and Carla Cegielski.
